2020 Year In Review

Well, 2020 is finally over – it’s been a long year! And besides Trump, COVID-19, rioting, and an election, a lot has happened for me. I finally started traveling full-time which means I quit my job, packed up everything and moved out of my own house!

Every year since 2016, I’ve been creating these One Second Everyday (1SE) videos to kind of encapsulate my experiences. Below is what 2020 looked like for me.

In 2020, I started out a little sick (not COVID, though – I don’t have the antibodies.) Then I spent a lot of time digitally recording all of my mother’s cassette tapes and vinyl records which included a lot of childhood favorites (and insight into what my parents were buying in their prime 1965-1968 record-buying years.)

You’ll see a lot of house/petsitting overall, even recording records while housesitting. Then in March & April, my work was shut down due to COVID. (And frankly, there are a lot of missed days in there.) Back to work in May, then I resigned from my job in June and left it in July.

There are back-to-back trips to Helen, GA, dying my hair pink, some final house projects, then packing up the house by mid-August.

Then I drive! I drive through Alabama, then housesit in Florida, drive up the coast, and to Ohio. Halloween was spent in Kentucky and Thanksgiving in South Carolina. Then two December stints in the Maryland/DC metro area with family Christmas and buying a new car in between. (Turns out my 15-year old car didn’t *like* all that driving!) And of course, lots of movies and reading because #1, it was a weird, stressful year, and #2, sometimes that’s the only time I stopped long enough to take a video.

So here you go – 2020’s One Second Everyday video:

For past years, check out my YouTube channel (where these are almost the only thing on there) or see below.

2019 was the year my mom died and I moved from her house back to my own:

2018’s videos came in two parts because I got a new phone the fall of that year. And going from an iPhone to an Android Pixel 3 meant I couldn’t combine the two.

This was the year I sold everything I owned, rented out my house for the first time, and moved in with my mom.

In 2017, I changed jobs until I landed on the last one I held. Plus, this is the year my cat died and when I started selling off my stuff in order to move in with Mom.

2016 is the first year I started recording videos everyday. It’s also the year I was let go from the job I held for 13 years and the year my dad died. SO, the last few years have been eventful, to say the least.
