Roller Coasters in North Dakota

You might have guessed, but there are not very many roller coasters in North Dakota. There is one, however! So let’s talk about it. (As always, please check the calendar and prices before you visit.)

Click on the coaster’s name below for a video of the ride! Ride the roller coaster in North Dakota from home!

Super Slide Amusement Park

You can find North Dakota’s one roller coaster at the Super Slide Amusement Park in Bismark. The rides can be found in the larger Sertoma Park on the banks of the Missouri River with several picnic shelters and the Dakota Zoo nearby.

In the park, they indeed have a super slide, as well as a classic Ferris wheel, teacups, swings, go-karts, carousel, bounce house, bumper cars, and a few other rides, almost all geared towards smaller children. There’s also a small mini-golf course, batting cages, water balloon fights, and a basketball challenge course. The roller coaster is the Runaway Train, a smaller coaster with a helix on each end.

All rides require 1-3 tickets. The Runaway Train costs 3 tickets. Each ticket is only 90 cents, and they helpfully tell you that you’ll need 27 tickets to ride everything. A sheet of 25 tickets costs $22 and there are deals for 50, 100, or 250 ticket packs if you have a big group. Tickets are good all season. Mini-golf is $5 extra, the basketball course is $3, and the batting cages are $1 for 20 balls. Parking is free in Sertoma Park.

Water Parks in North Dakota

Also as you might think, there aren’t a ton of water parks in North Dakota – but there are a few, especially of the community park variety and indoor hotel pools. There are more of those hotel pools (including the Splash Down in a Sleep Inn in Minot) but I’ve only included those that can be visited by non-hotel guests, or locations that offer a day pass and not a monthly membership.

  • Raging Waters operated by the city of Mandan, has 4 slides, a lazy river, and a kids’ splash tower. Admission is $16 and under, and $10 after 4 pm.
  • Wild West Water Park in Watford has 2 proper slides, a splash pad and zero-depth entry activity pool for kids, plus a hot tub and lap pool. A day pass plus slides is $7.
  • Splasher’s of the South Seas is an indoor waterpark in Grand Forks, as part of the Canad Inns Destination Centre. Inside is 1, maybe 2 proper slides, a large kids’ splash tower, a lazy river, an activity pool, a kiddie pool, and a hot tub. Admission for non-hotel guests is $26 and under for a full day, less after 7 pm. Hotel guests can visit for $9 and under and for longer hours during the week.
  • Governor’s Water Park in Casselton, near Fargo, is inside a Holiday Inn but it looks like they accept day visitors. There’s 1 two-story slide, 2 kids’ slides and a play structure, plus two swimming pools and an oversized hot tub. Admission is $12 Fri-Sun and $10 Mon-Thurs.
  • The Williston ARC features several fitness opportunities, plus a small indoor waterpark with a slide, lazy river, and FlowRider. Daily rates are $10 and under.
  • Mayville Water Park is an outdoor city pool with at least a big slide and a small slide. Other than that, I can’t tell. Nor can I find prices.
  • Likewise, Beulah Water Park has a big and small slide, and maybe a small lazy river. Mostly, it’s a community lap pool. A daily pass is $7, according to Facebook.
